Parent FAQs

Everything parents ask us

How does the free taster session work?

Tap any "Register for a free taster" button and it opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message. Add your child's name and date of birth, hit send, and we'll reply with their first session details. They just turn up and join in. No payment, no forms, no commitment. If they love it (they usually do), we'll sort registration afterwards.

What should they wear and bring?

Comfy sports clothes they can run in, trainers or astro boots (no metal studs), shin pads if they have them, and a water bottle. Nothing special is needed for a taster. Just bring them as they are.

Who are the coaches?

Paid, qualified, DBS-checked professionals, never parent volunteers. We recruit the best coaches in Manchester and pay for them, because proper coaching at this age is what turns enthusiasm into real ability.

Can I stay and watch?

Of course. Parents are welcome pitchside at every training session and matchday. Plenty of our parents wouldn't miss it.

What happens when it rains?

We're in Manchester, so we play through most weather! If a session ever has to be called off, we let parents know in the team WhatsApp group in good time.

Do you train through the school holidays?

Yes — football runs all year, with at least one session a week through half-terms and the summer, plus friendlies and a summer camp members get 25% off. The one exception is Christmas: the club closes for three weeks, from Monday 14 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, and everyone is back the week of Monday 4 January. Monthly fees don't change, because the £35 is spread across all twelve months and the year's sessions already allow for the break.

How does kit work?

Registration includes a zip-up training jacket, the full matchday kit — shirt, shorts and socks — and a branded water bottle, all your child's to keep. Any extra kit is sold at cost in the club shop; we're a non-profit and take nothing on it.

Which team would my child join?

It goes by age: Minis for ages 4 to 6, then our U8s Hawks, U8s Ravens, U10s Eagles, U10s Lions and U11s. All our teams are professionally coached and treated as equals.

Do they need to be good at football already?

No. All abilities are welcome. Our coaches meet every child where they are and help them improve at their own pace. Attitude matters far more to us than ability.

Where does our money actually go?

Back into the football. FC Babylon is run as a non-profit — nobody takes a wage out of your subs. The £35 a month pays for pitch hire, our professional coaches, referees and matchday subs, and the one-off registration covers the training jacket, matchday kit and water bottle your child keeps. Extra kit in the club shop is sold at exactly what our supplier charges us, with no club margin on it.

How do we join after the taster?

Just message us on WhatsApp. We'll sort their registration — it includes the training jacket, full matchday kit and a water bottle — set up the £35 monthly payment and register them to play. They'll have a team from that weekend.

Question answered? The first session is free. Just send their name and date of birth on WhatsApp.
